About Baron
An independent business consultant and coach with backgrounds in management, communications, marketing, and branding, Baron Carr draws upon wide experience in the financial- and hospitality-services industries to provide seasoned, practical advice for executives and companies seeking growth, efficiency, and change—with special emphases on strategic planning, public speaking, multicultural marketing, and leadership.
Working in various executive positions for more than 15 years for several Fortune 500 corporations, Mr. Carr led development and execution of successful multi-million-dollar marketing campaigns across multiple platforms. He has established himself as a creative thinker, leader, and speaker, with particular expertise in executive coaching focused on personal growth. He has worked with clients in the United States and abroad, including London, Dubai, and Africa.
As vice president for brand marketing for Carlson Hotels Worldwide, one of the world’s leading travel and hospitality companies, Mr. Carr was responsible for implementing strategic plans for its major brands, including Radisson, Country Inns & Suites, Park Plaza, and Park Inn divisions, as well as establishing key metrics and cost-cutting measures.
For Allianz (Global 500 #27), where he served as vice president for branding and marketing, Mr. Carr developed innovative strategies for multicultural campaigns—the company’s first ever—which generated substantial revenues. Early in his career, at JPMorgan Chase (Global 500 #36) in New York, where he served as vice president for emerging markets and product development in the auto-finance division, Mr. Carr managed an $11 billion minority-dealership portfolio, following successful executive positions in corporate advertising, multicultural marketing, communications, and customer service.
Mr. Carr is recipient of numerous awards, including Minority Business Executive (Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal); Supplier Diversity Business Unit and Advocate awards (JP Morgan Chase); and Top 40 Under 40 (Network Journal Magazine). A member of the National Speakers Association, he has also served on the board of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Twin Cities; the Multicultural Marketing Committee for the Association of National Advertisers; and the Leadership Council of the American Diabetes Association.
Adept at coordinating and integrating the myriad demands inherent with managing corporate responsibilities—complete with their interconnected challenges and opportunities—Mr. Carr excels at helping people to identify, set, and achieve personal and professional goals. A graduate of Long Island University in New York, where he earned his BA (1995) and MBA (2003), he offers a spirited and open approach for successful, productive transformation of individuals and groups within corporate cultures. His outlook helps employees enhance a company’s mission, values, and profitability.
As a reflection of the entrepreneurial spirit that he advocates for others, Mr. Carr is founder and president of B. Carr Group, a business-consulting and personal-branding company in Minneapolis. He is also a yoga instructor and an accomplished photographer.
